Fikirizma Media (“Company,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) respects your privacy and is strongly committed to protecting the personal data and digital documents of the users (“User,” “you”) who access and use our website, www.freepdf.co, and its related document processing tools (collectively, the “Service”).
This comprehensive Privacy Policy governs our data collection, processing, and usage practices. It explains how we collect your information, what we do with it, and your rights under global privacy frameworks, including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), and the Turkish Personal Data Protection Law (KVKK).
BY ACCESSING OR USING THE SERVICE, YOU AGREE TO THE PRACTICES DESCRIBED IN THIS PRIVACY POLICY. IF YOU DO NOT AGREE, PLEASE DO NOT USE THE SERVICE.
1. The Core Principle: Zero-Knowledge & Document Privacy
Our fundamental business model is built on providing a secure, automated, and private document manipulation service.
1.1. No Human Access: We do not read, view, or manually inspect the contents of the files you upload (the “User Content”). All processing is performed entirely by automated algorithms.
1.2. No Data Mining or AI Training: We strictly do not mine your User Content for advertising purposes, nor do we use your documents to train Artificial Intelligence (AI) or Machine Learning (ML) models.
1.3. Strict 24-Hour Ephemeral Storage: Any file uploaded to our servers for processing (and its resulting output) is encrypted and temporarily stored in secure cloud buckets. Every single file is permanently, irreversibly, and automatically deleted from our infrastructure no later than twenty-four (24) hours after upload. We do not keep historical backups of your files.
2. Information We Collect
To provide and improve our Service, we collect the following categories of information:
2.1. Personal Information You Provide to Us
Account Data: If you create an account, we collect your email address, name, and encrypted password (or OAuth token if registering via Google/social logins).
Communication Data: Information you provide when contacting our support team (e.g., your email, name, and the content of your message).
2.2. Information Collected Automatically
Usage & Log Data: We automatically collect diagnostic and usage information when you access the Service. This includes your IP address, browser type, operating system, referring URLs, device information, and interaction timestamps.
Quota Tracking: We track your IP address and device fingerprint strictly to enforce our daily free-tier limits (e.g., 3 files per day).
2.3. Payment and Billing Data (Handled by Third Parties)
When you purchase a Pro subscription, your payment is processed directly by our Merchant of Record, Paddle.com. We do not collect, process, or store your credit card numbers, bank details, or full billing addresses on our servers. Paddle handles this data subject to their own stringent Privacy Policy and PCI-DSS compliance.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the collected data strictly for the following purposes:
- Service Delivery: To create and manage your account, apply Pro subscription limits, and execute the document processing tasks you request.
- Security & Fraud Prevention: To protect the Service against malicious activities, DDoS attacks, bots, and limit-bypassing abuse.
- Customer Support: To respond to your inquiries, troubleshoot technical errors, and process refund requests (in coordination with Paddle).
- Analytics & Improvements: To understand how users interact with our UI/UX and optimize server performance (using anonymized Google Analytics data).
- Legal Compliance: To comply with applicable laws, respond to lawful subpoenas, or enforce our Terms of Service.
4. Information Sharing and Third-Party Processors
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We only share data with verified third-party sub-processors essential for operating the Service:
- Cloud Infrastructure: Hetzner (Germany/Finland) and Cloudflare (Global) for secure server hosting, DDoS protection, and the temporary 24-hour storage of your files.
- Payment Processor (Merchant of Record): Paddle.com (UK/USA) for executing transactions, managing subscriptions, and handling international tax compliance.
- Analytics: Google Analytics 4 (Alphabet Inc.) for aggregated traffic analysis.
- Email Delivery: Resend or similar transactional email providers for sending password resets and system notifications.
Law Enforcement Exception: We will disclose your information or uploaded files only if required by law, subpoena, or if we detect illegal activities such as the uploading of Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM) or severe cyber-attacks.
5. International Data Transfers
FreePDF is operated by Fikirizma Media in TĂĽrkiye, utilizing cloud servers primarily located in the European Union (Germany/Finland via Hetzner). By using the Service, your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in countries outside of your residence. We ensure that all cross-border data transfers are protected by Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) or equivalent legal safeguards compliant with the GDPR.
6. Your Privacy Rights (GDPR, CCPA, KVKK)
Depending on your geographic location, you possess specific rights regarding your personal data:
- Right to Access & Portability: You can request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Right to Rectification: You can update or correct your account information at any time via your dashboard.
- Right to Erasure (Right to be Forgotten): You can delete your account. Upon account deletion, your personal data (email, usage history) will be permanently purged from our active databases within 30 days, excluding data we must retain for legal/tax purposes.
- Right to Object/Restrict Processing: You may object to the processing of your data for certain purposes.
- CCPA Specific: California residents have the right to know what personal information is collected and to opt-out of the “sale” of personal information. (Note: FreePDF does not sell personal information).
To exercise any of these rights, please email us at [email protected]. We will respond to your request within 30 days.
7. Cookies and Tracking Technologies
We use cookies to maintain session states, enforce security, and analyze traffic.
- Essential Cookies: Necessary for the Service to function (e.g., keeping you logged in, storing your daily quota status). These cannot be disabled.
- Analytics Cookies: Used to track site performance. Users in regions protected by the GDPR or UK-GDPR will be presented with a Consent Banner and must opt-in before non-essential tracking occurs.
8. Data Security
We implement industry-standard organizational and technical measures to secure your data. All data transmitted between your browser and our servers is encrypted using TLS/SSL (HTTPS) protocols. Files resting on our cloud buckets are encrypted server-side. However, no electronic transmission or storage technology is 100% secure; therefore, we cannot guarantee absolute security against highly sophisticated cyber-attacks.
9. Children’s Privacy
The Service is not directed to, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from, children under the age of 16. If we become aware that a child under 16 has provided us with personal data without verifiable parental consent, we will take immediate steps to delete such information and terminate the account in compliance with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).
10. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We reserve the right to update this Privacy Policy at any time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the “Last Updated” date at the top of this document or by sending a notification to your registered email address. Your continued use of the Service after the revised Policy becomes effective indicates your acceptance of the new terms.
